Most of the works figuring here belong to the various schools and movements of the decisive years 1860-1960, a period that saw the birth and demise of the modern art movement. The main focus is on Europe and the great majority is priced well below $5,000, the conventional ceiling for affordable art.
Much more than just pecuniary, our approach is essentially aesthetic and the common denominator to all pieces is that they blend their decorative qualities with their Fine Art stature; the term 'decorative' excludes by no means the Fine Arts.

Typical of the period is the care given to the framing, which is often ornamental with full or partial gilding. Once framed, any artwork acquires a decorative tinge. The wilful absence of framing contributed largely to the particular and new dimension of post-war, post-modern painting. Once bereft of its traditional surface and frame, traditional painting gradually and naturally vanished in the upheaval of the seventies...
