Frequently Asked Questions :
Your site is prominently addressing itself to the US market. Can I buy your paintings also from elsewhere, and have them shipped elsewhere?
Yes, of course. Just remember that all sales are most conveniently done through Paypal in USD and that Taxipost International Express Pro tracked and insured shipping will be used for all destinations outside Belgium. Transport and customs costs are included in the sales price for the US and for EU member states. If you are located in any of these countries you can go ahead ordering for the set price through the PayPal interface. Please contact us beforehand if you are situated in another location than those mentioned here.
No, being strictly a private collector I don’t have a public gallery showing art for sale. However, you are more than welcome to visit my house and see my collection if you come to Bruges. Please give me some prior notice as I’m often on the road.
What is the mentioned “seller's certificate”?
This is a written bona fide statement describing the artwork sold, the provenance, the attribution, the age, the technique used and the materials employed. This certificate is signed and delivered with the artwork.
Will I get an official invoice?
Yes of course. Due to recent European Union regulations concerning mandatory export licences for artwork valued above $500, the accompanying paperwork will need particular attention. We'll explain all this to you in due course.
Will my artwork be in good condition?
Yes. However, you must remember that the art for sale here is anywhere between 50 to 150 years old. Your work of art will have aged ‘naturally’ and acquired a patina that is an added value and should not be restored away.
- a normal aging process in regard to paintings with stretched canvas as support: cracks in the painted surface, slight deterioration of the ground coat (the size), visible when viewing the back side of the canvas; minor or part bulging/deformation of the canvas. Work with a panel or board support gives in this regard more stability.
- a normal aging process in regard to frames: joinery slightly misaligned, minor and/or partial flaking/wear of the paint/gilding (the lower part of the frame is naturally more worn).
These are the charming characteristics of antiquities. Be assured that all art sold here is in good to excellent condition, ready to be hung on arrival.
Is the sales price really the final price?
Yes. Except in cases where the contrary is clearly stated, packaging and shipping are included. Your artwork is exempt from US duty on imported goods and the miscellaneous customs clearance costs and minor taxes are settled by the carrier on our behalf.
How long will I have to wait for my artwork to arrive?
This depends on the size of the work and whether it fits, when packed, into the standards set by current air transport regulations. Normally, shipped items will reach their destination well within a week after payment clearance.
Can I change my mind upon seeing my purchase in real?
Yes you can! This is our satisfaction or money back guarantee. However, you will have to pay for the actual shipping and handling costs incurred OR, depending on the channel through which you are buying, pay a 10% restocking fee.
Within 72 hours after reception (the carrier records day and hour of reception) you should send us a written statement (e-mail will do) of your wish to retract from the purchase. We will immediately acknowledge receipt and confirm your return right. You should return the painting/drawing in the original packaging. Once the merchandise is back in irreproachable condition we will refund you the sum paid for the purchase, minus the carrier's transport charge invoiced to us for sending the artwork to you and the packing/insurance costs incurred. The thus deducted amount will always be justified.
